Top tip, book a table at weekends but that's a good sign of a well run establishment. Will be back when I'm down in the area.Posted on A TTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very nice food. Good selection of beers but didn't sample any. Male toilets are very small though, can be an issue if more than 2 people go to the toilet.Posted on Philip DavinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We reserved a table in advance and were greeted warmly on arrival, with everything set up and ready for us, which instantly made us feel welcome and relaxed. The food was very nice — clearly well prepared, full of flavour and nicely presented. It felt like real care had gone into the dishes rather than something rushed or generic. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, making it a great place to sit back and enjoy the afternoon. What really stood out was the service. The staff genuinely looked after us from start to finish, checking in at just the right times and making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling intrusive. Their friendliness and attentiveness really added to the overall experience. In my opinion, booking a table is recommended as it can get quite busy during peak periods. A great spot for a meal in Chesterfield, and somewhere we’d happily return to and recommend to others.
Posted on Tracey CVerified Superb Great service - yummy food (tapas) - nice friendly & clean. Bonus - dog friendly. Def recommend and will come again when in Chesterfield ❤️Posted on ShillyVerified Second Review Just To Emphasise How Fantastic The Pig Is. Have visited the ‘Pig’ on many occasions and have never left disappointed. My wife booked a family birthday lunch for eight over the phone, but later we found our table would be just inside the door. Being January and having two 90 year olds and a heavily pregnant mum-to-be in tow, I called in to ask if there was any possibility of moving us further into the dining area. The young lady behind the bar sorted this without any fuss, and if she reads this, I thank you again. On the day everything was just as perfect as it always is. Sunday menu running alongside regular menu, plenty of veggie options, food piping hot and all eight meals brought out together and promptly. This place is faultless: Great food, attentive service, generous portion sizes, superb value for money and an excellent selection of beers on the bar. Thanks to all involved. 10/10Posted on Andrea CVerified Perfection First visit 1 Jan with family very warm welcome from all staff including to our dog who was offered treats and fresh water bowl. Meals quick to arrive despite being busy. Food perfect for all and portion sizes ample. This will definately be our go to place. On leaving staff said Goodbye. The menu is varied suits all tastes .Absolutely recommend to anyone.Parking outside. Thankyou.Posted on Lynn BVerified Very impressed Although the place was extremely busy the food and service were excellent. A very good selection of meals. We all had something different and each meal was very good, well served and quite large portions. Will definitely visit again.Posted on MattAndLolVerified Lovely family meal Have enjoyed a few meals here when we return to Chesterfield to visit family, visited on Sat 13th Dec for a Christmas catch up meal. It was a good job we'd booked as the pub was full & they were turning walk-ins away. The 3 of us all ordered from the special Christmas menu but there was also the extensive normal menu too. My husband enjoyed his roast turkey dinner, he said the meat was tender & tasty & there was a lot of different veg eg sprouts, carrots, cabbage, peas & parsnips. My Mum's cousin really loved his Christmas burger with stuffing & a pig in a blanket too. I chose 2 of the Christmas tapas, though I should have had 3 as I had to have a pudding to fill me up ! The maple glazed pigs in blankets with a mild mustard sauce were particularly delicious ! My fruit cheesecake was tasty & my Mum's cousin loved his sticky toffee pudding too. We would definitely recommend the food at the Pig & Pump & the staff are pleasant too, we will see you next year !Posted on Amber-LilyVerified Great homemade food and local beers I’ve never had a bad experience at the Pig & Pump. The menu is extensive and the food has always been superb. I’ve had my eye on their Sunday roasts for some time and although these are not on during the festive period the festive meals do not disappoint. Amazing quality, fresh homemade food for a great price. The service is always brilliant, the staff are so friendly. They keep their large selection of beers really well too. Would recommend booking as this place is deservedly busyPosted on Steve_of_N21Verified Another of Chesterfields fine ale pubs and close to the station. Always good to see a pub reclaimed, and I thought this former Chinese restaurant was now functioning as a decent pub. I could imagine that the large one roomed high ceiling internal space could lack a bit of atmosphere when there is not many in, but on a Friday evening when the place was packed out, it was literally jumping. Ww were not here to eat but it is well named, as a lot of people do come here to eat, but with the impressive row of 12 hand-pumps, which were dispensing nine ales and three ciders for our visit, it’s a very good pub just for a beer as well and should definitely be considered in any beer crawl of Chesterfield, especially given its proximity to the railway station, which makes it ideal for either the starting point or ending point of any crawl. For our visit the hand-pumps were drawing Ossett White Rat, Oakham Citra and Bishops Farewell, Fullers London Pride, Thornbridge Jaipur IPA, Ossett x Northern Monk Marple Red Ale, Titanic Plum Porter, Castle Rock Elsie Mo Golden Ale and Vocation Winter Bloom Session Pale Ale and the remaining pumps were taken up with three hand pumped ciders.Posted on Daniel LVerified Great food choices The problem was there was so much good food to choose on the menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. Great service too.Posted on Sandra HVerified Great pub lunch Visited for a family lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful-they moved tables to accommodate us. Food was lovely and good range of beers.Posted on Fairy-tripperVerified Great pub but say no to the burgers Always a great atmosphere and the staff are great. We have food here quite often and has always been great but not sure what has happened to the burgers, tasteless and mushy, will stick to other choices on the menu in future.
